Organizational Background

GREDO is an indigenous local NGO. Non-profit non-partial, non- political and voluntary organization based in Baidoa. To reach the most affected grass-root communities in Bay and Bakool regions and lower Shebelle effectively and efficiently, the necessity of local partnership in relief program appeared. Responding to the partnership need, a group of Somali intellectuals and well-wishers initiated in December 1992 a local non-governmental organization called Gargaar Relief and Development Organization (GREDO) the organization has implemented during these period different projects including relief and emergency programs and later improved into rehabilitation and developmental programs.

We are looking forward to establishing teams of health workers consisting of various cadres of health professionals to deliver lifesaving emergency health services to the population in need through this program with high impact on lives of the most vulnerable population groups.

ROLE PURPOSE:

This role supports GREDO EPI project in Bay, Bakool under the general supervision of the Health and Nutrition Project Manager, with key responsibility for the implementation of GREDO Supply Chain policies and procedures at field level in co-ordination with the field teams. The immunization logistics Officer also has responsibility of supporting, training and mentoring of the overall EPI supply chain process and ensure the proper monitoring of consumption and EPI inventory management.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Responsible for overseeing EPI logistics/ medical supplies in Bay and Bakool regions, International and local medical procurement, cold chain management in liaison with the district EPI team line with GREDO policies and procedures and with emphasis on traceability control and medical stock visibility.
Responsible for EPI stock inventory management. Provide weekly and monthly stock reports for all GREDO cold chains in the regions. This should include weekly EPI inventory report in the project areas.
Ensure proper and reliable cold chain systems are implemented. Should be able to supervise cold chain activities in the project areas of Bay and Bakool.
Ensure security and maintain of medical stores & stocks around the Bay and Bakool area.
Ensure the placement of proper pharmaceutical logistic information and coordination in all the medical stores and warehouses exists to ensure expiry control.
Ensure that procedures of drug supply chain meet GREDO and partners regulations.
Responsible for the implementation of audit queries, spot check, mid-year and end year recommendations for medical stores finding. This should include adherence to strict EPI/Cold chain protocols.
Responsible for timely GRN creation for received EPI supplies and timely sharing with his/her supervisor.
Responsible for packaging advice and delivery follow up of supplies to the centers and field offices.
Advise on space availability and stocking guidelines and temperature requirements to meet shelf life.
Responsible for TIM entry and removal of supplies by ensuring accuracy and compliance on TIM requirement.
Ensure delivery of quality drugs, vaccine supplies and equipment to the program sites through an enhanced supply chain system.
Support the field logistics teams with the implementation of policies and procedures for the management of the medical/ EPI supplies.
Acting as procurement officer whenever the logistic Officer is on leave.

Qualification and experience

A holds degree in pharmacy, Medical, Nurse, or related field.
Medical logistics certificate diploma in Pharmacy will be an added advantage
2-3 years’ experience of working in the field of pharmaceuticals and or EPI/cold chain systems
Experience in working with Health & Nutrition teams specifically medical environment in emergency context.
Proficiency in MS Office Operation (Use Excel Sheet)
Ability to synthesis and analyses complex information, and make clear, informed decisions
Ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally
Technical experience/knowledge in specific types of humanitarian intervention, especially in Health, Nutrition.

Working Condition

The candidate will be based in Baidoa, but frequent travels to meet beneficiaries and field visits is required.
